Be Empowered in Technologies

First of all, I would like to say that I'm really glad that we had a subject "Empowerment Technology". Believe it or not, computer subjects was always special for me. I'd choose it over science or math at any day.

In all honesty, the topics discussed in this topic wasn't really new to me. But I am glad that I was able to refreshed my mind about the topic and implement again what I have learned in Junior High School. Still, there's a lot of new lesson learned that could have reduced my working time before only if I have learned them earlier.

Information and Communication Technologies

This topic is the introduction of the subject and the topics that were discussed. By seeing all the technologies and improvements that happened, I was amazed at how far technologies have been. Imagine when I was a kid, the entertainment we had was only televisions with CRT screens. Now, entertainment can be anywhere even at the least of our pockets.

As a computer enthusiast, I’m really excited about what technologies might come in the nearest future. As a young dreamer, I aspire to be part of this gigantic technological movement to help in the betterment of life.

Online Safety and Netiquette

As people kept on emphasizing, the internet is a harmful space and we should always be careful when dealing with it. I have learned different types of viruses, forms of hacking, violence, and scamming people. You would realized that the internet is an avenue for danger and it is your responsibility to keep yourself safe at all times. Always think before you click something and keep yourself private as much as you can. No one is safe, we should always be vigilant.

Word Processing Skills

“Oh my god, why I just knew it today?” That would be my typical reaction after learning new things in using word processing applications. I once had to type and print out each letter for multiple senders – research purposes. Now I found something I’d consider a life hack. The activities done is also really nice as it allowed me to practice my vocal skills, and explaining, and impromptu speech.

Presentation Skills

The most important lesson I learned in this topic is how to be a leader. I was always a leader when it comes to activities. Some members are cooperative while some are not. At last, I got members which are very cooperative and suggestive. This is a very rare occasion for me as usually, I would have groupmates who won’t cooperate so I would end up deciding everything then just giving them bits of task. This activity, I felt like a leader with a working backbone. It’s so nice to listen to the ideas of other people and put it into something working.

Spreadsheet Skills

This topic is still connected to the above topic.

Efficiency is one the most important learning here. I was tasked for the computation/spreadsheet part of our activity. As a lazy person, I hate doing large and repetitive task suck as this, interviewing people. Instead printing out forms or calling/messaging each respondent, I decided to create forms to make our life easier. And yep, if you need to tackle tons of data, spreadsheet always got your back. It’s really efficient, saving me more time to finish other tasks. Technology is really cool.

Imaging and Design

I would rate myself as “pretty decent” when it comes to creating designs. I always tried to avoid when someone asks me to create something, simple because my skills are mediocre. I always tried to make it better but apparently, I got lazy and failed. Principles of design wasn’t really new to me but I never really cared for it until today. I’m so glad I relearned it today. After following all the principles, I believe the designs I made became better and more appealing to the human eye.

I now acquired the most important skill in design, and it’s learning the principles of it. If your not familiar with it, I’ve got a list here:

Content Development

This topic is a slap for me as an aspiring content creator. I have created websites and joined competitions before but outside of academics, I never got to implement it. I have focused on writing websites using HTML and CSS before tho. Now, we actually have programs and websites that creates a website for you which is really awesome and time efficient if you think of it. Not only in creating a website, but almost any task that you can think of have a quick and easy solution provided by the Internet of Things (IOT).

Before I actually forget this again, I made this website to serve as a requirement in my Empowerment Technology activity and a website for my content creations at the same time.
